EP18 · My Go-To Basic Flowers for Pressing

Today I visited the flower market to restock some of my go-to flowers for pressing.

I share the materials I reach for most often in my daily pressed flower work.

Living in Guangzhou means flowers are available all year round.

Season changes, but the market is always full of color, textures, and small surprises.

I like coming here not just to buy flowers, but to observe, slow down, and reconnect with why I enjoy pressing flowers in the first place.

In this episode, I briefly shared three types of flowers I personally use the most:

  • Hydrangea — extremely beginner-friendly, high success rate, and perfect as a base in many compositions.

I often use hydrangea as the base layer in my finished works.

You can see examples in EP15 and EP17.

  • Chamomile (Daisy) — often used as accents, easy to pair with other flowers, and very versatile.

I shared more detailed pressing tips for chamomile in EP20, especially what to watch out for during pressing.

  • Greenery — great for building structure, guiding the eye, and creating natural layers when combined with leaves.

For now, this episode is simply a quiet record of a day:

flowers, walking, choosing, and enjoying the process.
